by Jennifer Terry, Historian Before school starts back up on August 28, Cy-Creek gave Freshman (and New Student) Orientation from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. consisting of introduction and general information in the auditorium, a school tour, and club info, transportation, schedules, etc. in the commons area. Today, Interact Club officers set up a booth and passed out almost 200 flyers to encourage new students to become involved in Interact. Throughout the year, Interact Club does lots of community service events that members can participate in. Community service events vary from food drives, collecting cans, color runs, and more! Not only do Interactors obtain hours for participating in these events, but they also meet new friends and have a lot of fun at the same time. They don't need to worry about finding a ride to events because Interact Club meets at Cy-Creek's tennis courts prior to events to carpool. It's completely safe! Also, there's no pressure to get a designated number of hours. Although we don't have hour requirements, if Interact Club members get at least 100 hours of service by their Senior year, they have the opportunity to get a graduation stole which is a huge honor! Moreover, Interact's sponsor is Rotary which is an international service organization. By being affiliated with Rotary Clubs, Interactors gain access to benefits such as scholarships and being able to participate in Rotary programs some of which can be found on this website. Make sure to check out the Cy-Creek Interact Club website frequently for updates, events, questions, or anything else you may need! Hope to see you at our upcoming Interact Club meeting when school starts up!
